Megan Churches is a woman living in Australia and she is doing an incredible thing. That incredible thing, you may be wondering, is that she has dedicated her life to rescuing and rehabilitating… (wait for it)… Bats! Megan spends her days out and about looking for bats that have lost their way or found themselves in places they shouldn’t be in. She has, quite literally, found misplaced bats all over the place! She has found them trapped in vents and bathrooms, stuck on barbwire and in rose gardens, lost in construction sites, hiding in lampshades, stranded on trampolines, and many more peculiar places. But no matter what strange or unusual place that the bats may wind up in, Megan will be there to rescue them.
Rescuing them from their peculiar situations isn’t the only thing that Megan does. Once she is able to untangle the bats, she takes them to her home! Once at home, Megan gives them a bath, swaddles them, and feeds them. She treats her rescue bats like they are her very own children. She doesn’t fear them at all and she even speaks to them as if they were her children. And like all good mothers know, Megan knows when it is time for her bats to leave the ‘nest.’ Megan nurses her bat babies back to health and when it is time to set them free, Megan watches happily as they fly off into the wild.
Megan’s work with her bats is truly amazing. She is a modern day Bat Woman, saving one misplaced bat at a time!
