The truth behind dairy farms is heartbreaking. Female cows become pregnant so they can produce milk. Their calves are then taken from them within hours of birth so that the milk can be used for human consumption. To keep the females lactating, they are forcibly inseminated year after year.
Some female calves join the milking herd and spend months confined to tiny stalls. While other surplus females, along with males, are sold to be slaughtered for veal or cheap beef. The majority of dairy cows are confined in indoor operations with most of them tethered by the neck which prevents them from even being able to move around.
These two calves, named Bubba and Maayan were rescued from similar fate and now get to run free at Freedom Farm Sanctuary. They are the best of friends and now, not only will they have each other, but they will have loving humans to care for them and love them for the rest of their life.
