Jessie was an only pet, until a little kitten named Koda came into her life. She had no idea what she was missing, but when her human brought home the tiny rescue kitten, her life changed for the better. Since the moment Koda arrived, she was determined to make Jessie his best friend.
“Their relationship is very unique, as most dogs and cats do not act this way towards each other, very friendly and playful,” owner Emily Aubrecht told The Dodo. “They love to do everything together which is awesome for us as they keep each other entertained.”
In fact, seeing them together is absolutely adorable. According to Aubrecht, they both have a ton of energy. So, the duo is usually always running and playing outside.
“Koda constantly wants to play with Jessie and his toys,” said Aubrecht. “One of his favorite activities is to run in circles around our house. His other favorite pastime is to attack Jessie’s face and tail, and thank goodness she doesn’t care, otherwise we would have a very bored kitty on our hands.”
One of the furry friends’ favorite thing to do is to go camping with their human family members. It was on one of these trips that Aubrecht made a hilarious discovery. Koda, being a cat, obviously hates swimming. Jessie, on the other hand, loves to go for a dip. Aubrecht noticed that Jessie allowed Koda to ride on her back anytime they had to go through water.
“When we travel to British Columbia, they will adventure into the forest together,” Aubrecht said. “Koda enjoys riding on Jessie’s back, even though Jessie isn’t very fond of it!”
Every since that trip, Koda has insisted that Jessie carry her on all of their adventures. Jessie doesn’t seem to mind. After all, what are friends for? Pretty convenient (and adorable!). Koda was rescued from a farm that was overpopulated with cats, and spent his days living outside. Now, he has a warm house to live and play in and a new best friend for life!
