Elephant poaching is a huge problem and is responsible for the dwindling population numbers of elephants in the wild. However, there are people that are dedicated to saving these innocent animals and preventing poachers from doing their harmful work. Every day, elephants are rescued from the painful traps set by these illegal hunters. One rescue was caught on camera and shows just how much pain these snares cause an elephant. The video below was created by The Dodo and features the amazing work of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. It shows an elephant caught in a poacher’s snare. A group of animal rescuers work to free the large animal. The workers also care for the wound caused by the trap by cleaning it and packing it with clay. Watch the video below to see the heart-wrenching rescue.
