When Debera Butler spotted an elk in a desperate situation, she knew she had to help.
“I literally had to take a double take cause I thought I am not seeing what I think I’m seeing,” Butler told the local media. “And literally this poor guy had a tire swing all hung, tangled into his antlers.”
The elk had wandered into Butler’s backyard and found itself tangled in a tire swing. Fortunately for the animal, Butler was a veterinarian and an animal lover. She grabbed her tools and headed to the animal. Using corn to distract the elk, she began cutting away at the tire.
Butler worked for 12 hours as she had to take frequent breaks because the animal would become frightened. Finally the animal calmed and even took a nap! At last, Butler freed the grateful elk!
“He was free. It was amazing. He ate a couple of bites of corn, then he said, ‘See ya!’” Butler said.
The strange situation was all caught on camera. Check it out in the video below.
