Throughout the day, people interested in adopting one of the dogs or cats there met with an adoption counselor. The counselors helped to determine whether or not the home for be a good fit for the pet. If they were approved, the dog or cat got to go to their new forever home the same day.
Thanks to that kind donation, by the end of the day, 30 shelter pets found loving homes. The shelter was closed for the holidays, but once they reopened, the shelter was empty. It was perfect timing because the animals were adopted just in time for the holidays.
The shelter staff was ecstatic and celebrated by climbing into the empty kennels. Many of the animals there had been waiting for homes for a while. Of the animals adopted were two cats, Donald and Pocahontas, who had been there since August, and a blind Australian shepherd name Spots.
But the shelter didn’t stay empty for long. After adopting out all of their animals, they were able to welcome in 28 new ones. Hopefully they can find loving homes for all of these pets as well!
