This dog named Eri was rescued from the streets of Greece last year by Save A Greek Stray, an animal rescue organization. Eri was found wandering around by herself in the middle of a busy area. She most likely would’ve been hit by a car if she wasn’t rescued as soon as she was.
But living on the streets wasn’t the worst of it. Poor Eri also suffered from bad mange, ehrlichia and leishmaniasis, which all caused her to be in a lot of pain. Once she was rescued, she was treated right away for each condition.
After her recovery, she wound up spending a year in the shelter. She was very young and never really got to experience the life that she deserved. Despite what she had been through, she was still very friendly and sweet.
But the only world she now knew was life in a shelter. She loved the volunteers, but the outside world was a strange place to her. The cars, the people, the houses – all things she was not used to, especially walking on a leash.
Eri eventually went to live with a couple named Jo and Ellis, who fostered her in the UK and took great care of her. Eli was transformed from a mangy street dog to a beautiful pet dog. Their patience and consistency helped little Eri trust them and learn to be a dog.
Today, Eri is a social, outgoing, lovable dog. Looking back at Eri from when she was first rescued, she looks like a completely different pup now! Eri is estimated to be around two years old. She is a medium energy dog and enjoys going for walks but also loves to relax. She gets along great with other dogs, and even likes cats.
Eri loves her foster home, but she is still waiting for her forever home. She’d like a home where she won’t be left alone all day, and where she will have a doggy companion to play with and keep her company. Eri is housetrained and walks great on a leash. She is also microchipped, vaccinated and spayed.
