When Williams arrived there, she saw many different kinds of cats. Big and small cats, along with adorable little kittens. She was thinking of adopting a kitten, but then she laid eyes on Dexter and knew he really needed a home. He put his paws up onto her, and in that moment, Williams knew she had to bring Dexter home.
The family showered Dexter with love. With all of this new found love came new found health. Dexter put on weight, and all of his fur filled in. Despite being 20 years old, he was still very active and loving. He also enjoyed playing and cuddling with his doggy best friend, Flora.
Sadly, Dexter wound up passing away two years later, and the family was heartbroken; especially Flora, who paced around and whimpered, wondering where her feline friend was
The family thought it would be a good idea to adopt more cats to help Flora’s pain. They brought home two cats from the shelter, but they didn’t cuddle with Flora like Dexter did. Flora was still lonely and visibly upset.
Williams then decided to foster kittens – Iggy, Bowie, Roxy and Glamour. As soon as Flora saw the kittens, she perked right up! One by one, the kittens crawled up to Flora to say hello. Fearless of her large size, the kittens cuddled right up to her and touched noses.
Flora fell in love with the kittens, and although a piece of her heart left when Dexter passed away, these kittens help fill a huge void. Flora and the kittens are now inseparable. They play together, cuddle together, and Flora watches over them as if she’s their mother.
