Geno, an eight-year-old tabby cat, was brought to Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in Salt Lake City from a local shelter partner. Unfortunately, he is FIV+. FIV, or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, is the same class as HIV and can typically weaken a cat’s immune system. Cats with this disease can still live a long, healthy life.
Sadly, through no fault of his own, Geno had been adopted and then returned on several different occasions. He waited for his forever home, but it seemed like he kept being overlooked.
The more time volunteer Erin West spent with Geno, the more she fell for him. She made it her mission to get him adopted, even if it were the last thing she did. The right person for Geno was out there somewhere, it was just a matter of finding them. Geno needed a chance to break out of his shell and let his true colors shine.
That’s when Erin told her friend Havilah about Geno. She came to meet him, and sparks flew instantly. The connection was immediate, and Havilah was so excited to start her life with Geno. She posted a picture of him on Instagram with the saying, “This man will change my life tomorrow.”
She brought him home and he settled in immediately. They were definitely meant to be! Havilah rescued Geno, but Geno changed Havilah’s life in a tremendous way. Watch their story in the video below:
