Over a month ago, a man named Nick Haworth was out on a boat with his one-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd, Luna, when she went overboard in the Pacific Ocean. After endlessly searching, he couldn’t find Luna and had just assumed the worst, as would most owners. But fortunately, this story has a happy ending!
Two miles off the coast of San Clemente Navy auxiliary landing field, as Haworth was bringing in the nets of their boat, Luna was there. But the next moment, she was gone. He thought she swam to shore so he called the Navy but they hadn’t seen her. Five weeks later, a Navy biologist found Luna on the side of the road on San Clemente Island, two miles from where she went overboard! They’re unsure of what she did for those five weeks, but thankfully she was found safe! This goes to show how important it is for your dog to be wearing a life jacket on a boat, and also for you to keep a close eye on them!
