When Kit Shinobu decided to get a dog, she pictured it to be a tiny, cute puppy. Many people wind up buying puppies, without realizing how many older dogs are stuck in shelters.
Shinobu was on Facebook one day when she saw a picture of a three-year-old Husky from a dog farm in Thailand who needed help. That’s when Shinobu had a change of heart.
The dog, named Maya, only had two paws, and needed someone to adopt her who would have the time to take care of her and her special needs. Aside from only having two paws, she also has medical issues with her hips and bones. She can’t walk on her own, but she does have an adorable wheelchair to help her get around.
Shinobu knew she had to help this poor pup, so she decided to give her a forever home. Now, the two of them are best friends!
Maya is an extremely active, affectionate dog, and she doesn’t know she’s any different from others.
She also now has a Husky brother named Mamon. The two of them are best friends, and they run and play together every chance they get.
Just like many other dogs, she loves swimming, cuddling, and running. Her wheelchair definitely hasn’t slowed her down, and she’s able to run just as fast as other dogs can.
Shinobu could have easily gotten a puppy, but instead she decided to rescue a dog, and in return, the dog rescued her. The bond they share is something that can never be replaced.
You can follow Maya and her adventures on her Instagram.
Next time you’re thinking of buying a puppy, just think about all of the pups who are awaiting their forever homes in shelters. Adopt, don’t shop!
