Mrs. Flans the Chiweenie is living the good life, but it wasn’t always so good. When her previous owner got pregnant, she decided that she didn’t have the time for Mrs. Flans (formerly Mimi) anymore. She contacted Linda Alvarez, a private rescuer in the Los Angeles are, and told her that somebody had to come and get her or else she was going to put her out on the street.
The woman lived over an hour away from Alvarez, but she knew she couldn’t let her put the poor dog out on the streets to fend for herself. So she got in her car as fast as she could and sped over to pick her up.
As soon as Alvarez saw Mrs. Flans, who was wrapped in an old towel, she thought she was a bat. She has these very unique ears that make her look like something other than a dog at first glance. She is albino with a bright pink nose and a tongue that’s too long to fit in her mouth.
Aside from those quirks, she is also deaf and blind in one eye. On top of all of that, she has Dog Shaker Syndrome, which causes seizures. The reason for all of this is because Mrs. Flans is sadly the result of backyard breeding. Her parents were siblings, and each litter they produced had genetic abnormalities.
