When Watson arrived at the shelter, he weighed a whopping 34.8 pounds. He was surrendered because his previous owners could no longer care for him and said he was having litterbox issues.
He was not in good shape, which led him to be very unhappy. He had multiple tumors and could barely walk or groom himself.
Thankfully, within the next year, a foster family decided to take him in to help him get healthy again. She changed his name from Fatboy to Watson, and with that name change came a whole new life for him. It was then that his weight loss journey began so that he could be adopted.
Sheila of Love2Foster put Watson on a special diet, which consisted of canned Purina OM. The vets also removed benign tumors from his body.
Since it was hard for him to walk, Watson always stayed upstairs. So Sheila encouraged him to go down the stairs by feeding him downstairs. As time went on, Watson became more active and it was getting easier and easier for him to walk.
As he lost weight, he lost his grumpiness. Watson was becoming much happier and more friendly. He made friends with their other cat, Posey, and loved to play.
Soon, he was jumping on chairs and beds that he was never able to get to before.
Watson eventually got his weight down to 23 pounds and was finally ready to be adopted. He wound up finding his forever home with a comic illustrator named Robbi Rodriguez. Watson has some health issues due to him being overweight for so long, but his new family gives him the best care and all the love in the world.
