It is obvious that this owl and German Shepherd have a very unique bond. Both were rescued as small babies by German photographer, Tanja Brandt. Ingo, a Belgian Shepherd and Poldi, an owl, immediately built a unique bond. Poldi was the runt of his litter. As the smallest hatchling, it was obvious that he wouldn’t survive without extra care. Brandt took the little owlet in, but it was one of her dogs that stepped up to make sure Poldi stayed safe. Brandt told Little Things that from the very first day Ingo felt the need to become the small baby owlet’s protector. Now, the duo is still stronger than ever, but Poldi no longer needs a protector. As a full-grown owl, Poldi has owlets of his own. Now, the two are best friends. Despite the size difference, both animals care for each other and would do pretty much anything for each other.
Their owner, Brandt wanted to portray their unique friendship through photography. Her photos from Ingo and Poldi’s shoot show the love the two animals have for each other.
This unnatural friendship has made headlines as Brandt’s photos have gone viral. And, it seems that this friendship isn’t the only unusual one. Brandt has devoted her career to finding these strange rule-breaking friendships and document them in pictures. For more beautiful images, check out her personal website.
