Bella the Pug was likely born from breeding. She grew up with a family, but they had difficulty caring for her. She broke her elbow and was taken to the vet where she got it fixed, but it wound up breaking again. Sadly, her other elbow broke. Both were irreparably damaged and the only solution was double amputation, but the care and cost were too much for the family.
Bella stayed at the hospital for nine long months. A volunteer at Pug Nation heard about Bella’s story, and, with the help of the vets, was able to convince the family to relinquish her to the hospital and then to the animal rescue.
Today, Bella is six years old and lives in a loving home. She is awaiting a double amputation that’ll free her from the pain of her broken elbows. Despite what she’s been through, she is very loving and sweet. Although she can’t walk with her two front legs, she doesn’t know she’s any different from other dogs. Her owner says she’s like part penguin, part seal and part Pug. But she’s 100% adorable! Watch her full story in the video below:
