In St. Louis, Missouri, rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis happened upon a family of dogs that were trapped in a house that was so decrepit that it was crumbling to the ground. Rescuers went inside and began their search.
The search was not an easy one. All four pooches were located in different areas of the dank house. With limited visibility and rubble littering the floor, they didn’t have much of a clear path. Eventually, rescuers stumbled upon the papa dog, he was the easiest to reach, but he did not trust easily. It took a lot of patience, soothing words, and bribing him with food before they were able to lead the daddy to safety. Once he was safely outside, rescuers went back into the house in search of puppies. They found the first puppy on the upper-level of the house. He was all alone and scared, but rescuers were easily able to bring him to safety.
Once the first puppy was safe, the rescuers headed to the basement in search of the other family members. They found the second puppy hiding in the basement. He was frightened and when rescuers made to grab him, he let out a distressful bark. This triggered the mama’s nerves. She began barking and rescuers were easily able to locate her. Wanting to save the puppy first, rescuers set up an area in the rubble that allowed the mama to watch as they rescued her pup, which helped her calm down. It took the rescuers a total of two hours to rescue the first three family members that they had found. After brining the second puppy to safety, rescuers went back in for the mama and found her exhausted. She was easily led to safety and reunited with her family.
The family of four is now happier than ever in their new forever home and it is all thanks to their saviors, the rescue team from Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
