This pit bull named Via was smaller than average, extremely thin, and had a gaping wound on her head. A woman, named Lea Frissen, rescues dogs and came across a post on Facebook about a hurting pit bull.
She immediately went to the area and found Via crouched under a bush. When she got out of her car, Via crawled to her very slowly with her head ducked, as if she was nervous. She put a leash on her and got her into the car right away.
She brought the dog to an animal shelter where they checked for a microchip, but unfortunately she didn’t have one. She posted about Via on social media to see if anyone knew who this dog belonged to.
Someone recognized Via and said she had been “rescued” already once before. She had been found on the streets a few weeks prior and was returned to her owner. The house she was living at had a backyard filled with barking pit bulls who looked like they were being bred to fight.
It all made sense now why Via kept running away; she was trying to escape her horrible life. This time she would never have to go back to that place ever again.
As soon as the shelter put Via up for adoption, Frissen was there to bring her home. Today, months later, Via is as happy as can be with her new family and dog siblings. She never has to worry about being hurt or bitten ever again.
